He slumped on Saturday on Ishaga Road, Idi-Araba, Mushin, Lagos while controlling traffic. Was rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, but doctors were on strike. Kazeem Lawal, who was among LASTMA officials on duty for an event at
the Chapel of the Healing Cross, was then taken to Randle Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
One of his colleagues told PUNCH that LASTMA workers do not have any insurance policy or any hazard allowance. They work round the clock, and are usually overwhelmed. And so he must have collapsed from stress pile up. He added that ever since some LASTMA workers were sacked last year, there has been a burden on the workforce. Work posts, where 7 personnel were handling, have been reduced to one or two…… R.I.P to him……
